1 more guitar and then vocals and synth, and we’ll be filling your ears with new materials.

No not the cheap as cheap chips takeaway in Fallowfield….but Second City Magazine has finally arrived and we’re in it…..Twice!! T!W!I!C!E!

Here are some choice words from one of the articles….

“We’ll be blunt….With That Knife are nothing short of amazing. Even at this early stage. The band are less than a year old in their current set up. The talent and cohesiveness is just plain jaw dropping…………….They blend intricate harmonic indie rock ala Minus The Bear with extra bite and even more moments of chaos……..Their first EP is 3 idyllic tracks but seeing them perform live takes them to another level, in the words of Daft Punk ‘ Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’……..”

As you can imagine we’re all pretty chuffed!
There’s more in the magazine so go and check it out, there are 5000 out there somewhere in Manchester, Piccadilly Records, Roadkill Records, Night n Day…..the usual places to find cool things……plus there’s features on ‘Cats in Paris’ ‘Trojan Horse’ ‘The Shadowcops’ ‘Joy Division’ and loads of other good stuff to read…….Free literature? It’s the future or something……or maybe that’s time travel; i’m not sure.

Others……Mixing of our new recordings is under way and sounding good - so watch this space for some serious new music from us, recorded and new live songs too! Huzzah!

That’s right, i’ve just dedicated the post title to one of my favourite confectionary snacks! The Giant Flyer

Now that’s out of the way, we have a lovely looking flyer for our gig at Dry Bar on the 15th October!
That’s two weeks yesterday! I can tell you’re excited……you don’t need to print it off or anything though…..

anyway, this is gonna be our last gig for a little while we think so it’d be great to see as many of you there as we can! We’ll make sure we put on a big one for you
If you put a comment on the bottom of this post, we can put you on a £3 guest list, saving you a whole pound!
Also if people turn up - we get some £££. Not alot but enough for us to put it to good use, and get some badges made finally, or put it in the pot for bigger and better things, maybe hats, hats might be a good thing i like hats……
But seriously this will be our last gig for a little while(not too long though), as we want to concentrate on some new material and come back bigger and better, and have enough songs to tailor each gig, blah blah….don’t worry though they’ll be good

If there’s any good gigs happening and you want us to play we’ll probably do it though! Fear not!

I’m gonna take some photos of our escapades in the coming weeks so i’ll keep this site as fresh as original source……

Stuff…….We all have jobs now (yay money! boo work!) Owen is gonna put some of his ££ to good use in purchasing some hella cool pedal(s?) once he gets off ‘Spore’. Ed has become a master flyerer…..Rich is no longer groundskeeper Willie and has returned to the short ‘do!…..Mike is the master of skiving at work seriously……and i’m gonna build something triumphant for our new tunes…just you wait…..

It’s been a while we know….we’re sorry……but we have been busy

Rich wrote a new tune which is awesome (awesome that it’s been written and also that its an awesome tune)

Owen wrote a new tune (ages ago) and found it again (awesome)

Then he went and wrote another which we’ve not heard yet, but i expect that to be awesome too…..

So whilst some things have not materialized just yet, there is plenty of stuff almost here…..great

Bad news……Our proposed gig at The Urbis has been cancelled which is a bit of a bummer, but hopefully it’ll be re-arranged…

Good news…… we’re in the studio next sunday to finish off our new recordings……great! so you should be hearing some new sounds in the near future!

Greetings………

Thanks to all who came down to support us at our last couple of gigs - it’s much appreciated, hope you all had a fun time!
there should be a few snaps coming up on the flickr link of our recent efforts…..

In some good news - we’ve got a full page spread in the new magazine ‘Second City’ which comes out on September 22nd i believe - in all good beer serving places in Manchester, and probably some very good record stores - keep your eyes peeled, i believe there’s a feature on ‘Cats in Paris’ too so it should be a good read!

Recording is nearly there, i say nearly there there’s vocals left to do but the desk broke so we’re having to wait on some electrical whiz to sort it out - i dunno, brand new desks - “they don’t build them like they…..blah blah….”

Well recording is going very well, the man behind the desk Joe Meekums is doing a great job in making us sound BIG! which is great…..
Just synth and vocals to go and then a good old mix and 2 new tracks will be ready for airing…..so watch this space as they say, or watch this Myspace as they don’t say.

Anyway we’ve got a couple of gigs coming up……..one this thursday (4th) at Centro Bar (Tib Street Manchester, next to Matt and Phreds) and then one next Tuesday (9th) at Tiger Lounge!
We’ve never played these venues before so we’re really looking forward to playing, plus there’s some top bands we’re playing with - cool.
Plus the Centro Bar gig is FREE! even better! Hope to see you there!

Well well…..Mr Barratt has broken his promise of updating you all on our whereabouts so…..

i thought i’d post a few pics of our time so far…….

2 songs partially recorded but 4 drum tracks recorded so we should have 4 (yes Four!) new recordings up over the coming weeks…..and they’re sounding BIG! which is excellent

W(ith that knif)E are all off to the studio tomorrow to record some lovely noises which we’re all looking forward to!

We’re gonna do some songs that have changed since the last time they were recorded - to give the recorded format the live ass kicking that these songs (or ‘pieces’ as my former university lecturer told me to call them) get whilst we’re all sweaty and hyper.

I have it on good word that Owen will be posting some sort of diary about this….maybe on the myspace, but i’ll post it on here too to save your fingers of clicking on both - or if you really love us, check out both. It’s good to get hits apparently!

I’m sure i’ll be taking a fair few photos to show you how we ‘roll’ as it were, so keep peeled

Also swiftly following our recording session, we’ll be heading off for a couple of gigs in Sept then a couple more in October and (hopefully) an In the City gig too! see you there………:-)

Other news, were playing another edition of TripTronic! This time we’re on at Bar Centro in Manchester which promises to be excellent as there’s always a good vibe down there.
